SQL Server Data Services (SSDS) Interview Questions 

About 3 or 4 weeks ago my Trend Micro PC Cillin Internet Security subscription ran out. Ever since then it has been running slow and I am guessing it is adware. I downloaded Ad-Aware and have done numerous full system scans but it hardly found anything. I got the solution:

Right click My PC / Properties.
Click Advanced Tab
Under Performance, click Settings
Click Data Excecution Prevention tab
Select Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only Restart Windows This option is selected by default, but with installation of SQL 2005 or Visual Studio it changes and start to cause a series of trouble without any information to the user.

Hi guys. By now you are probibly annoyed by my questions. Please bare with me. I have JUST uninstalled mywebsearch toolbar. I have norton security on, comcast desktop doctor, google pop-up blocker and IE pop-up blocker on.

My not in use programs are Hijackthis, SUPER anti spyware, and NO-LOP.

My problem is those flipin' CiD ads that could be possible LOP trojans. I got these annoying pop-up ads from when i downloaded MSN PLUS (a costly mistake) and now these CiD ads are here. I have gone through the Ad/Remove programs to remove the MSN PLUS Sponsors and it worked, but the ads are still here. I got rid of "Mysearchenige" and the ads are still here.

I am now desprate and am loosing my mind. I already tried a norton and SUPERantispyware full systum scan and got nothing but cookies (got rid of 'em).

I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, i have norton internet security and i need to get rid of CiD pop-up ads that started appearing after i downloaded "MSN Messenger Plus"!

*mumble* to heck with you, msn *mumble*

Anyway i got superAntiSpyware but it didnt detect anything. I went to "add/remove programs" and have removed everything to do with windows live and CiD (couldnt find "CiD Help) including "windows live messenger (original) and "Windows live home" and selected to "delete sponsor" but they still came (with slightly less intensity). Yes, i found "MSN PLUS! Sponsor Program" and deleted it but the ads keep comming. I searched my computer for any windows live plus remaining. none. I even did a restore computer thing were i went one day before the download. didnt work.

I have running now: comcast desktop doctor, google pop-up blocker, internet explorer pop-up blocker, and Norton security. I coud use "SUPER anti Spyware" if needed, but it brings my computer to a crawl and it already couldnt fin the problem when i did full computer scan, and while it didnt boot right after download, the CiD ads kept on popping-up and popping-down.

I have Trend Micro HiJack this and i was wondering if you could tell me what needs to be "fixed" from this HJT log:

I am looking to get into a SQL position (wiht Oracle), and they said with no prior expierance it would be 35K. The job is part customer service, dealing with the customer and explaining to them the database and writing scripts to modify data if they put it in wrong.

Is a job like this a good starting point, or am I heading down the wrong road?

The full error is:

I know this has something to do with SQL 2005, but I don't know much about SQL. I started with a clean install. Anyone know????? Please?? Oh, also, I am working on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition. We also have one more program running with SQL capabilities, Protection Pilot. I don't know if that makes a difference.

I recently developed an application that gathers lots of remote data from two very large database servers, runs some intensive calculations using SQL queries and VB code, storing the intermediate values in local tables, and then generates some reports. It took about 4 weeks to complete by myself working 4 hours a day.

It runs very nicely with minimal user input. But I was thinking recently that if I wanted to have done something more than an ad-hoc design, I probably should've made some nice, organized class diagrams for a domain model and then used these diagrams to implement classes that would hold the data while it was being worked on (via clean class methods and services).

But my question is: wouldn't this be overkill? The data is already modeled on the two servers. All I'm doing is bringing objects into memory, executing code instead of queries, and spitting the output into tables anyway because I need to run reports.

Which way is better?

I'm looking for a php library which can perform like javabean(i.e. simpler SQL commands, or structured data type, etc)

Since I'm using a hosting service, it should be something as simple as include("") to use the library, not installing it like pear.

Is there such a library like that?

my sql server is configured for windows authentication only. no sql authentication.

when i debug my application i am getting an error
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'.

i have used the following command in my query analyzer.

exec sp_grantlogin 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'
as i found in some asp.net forums.

but still i am getting the same error. i have sql server developer edition installed. and there is sql server express edition that comes with visual studio 2005.

when i am trying to connect to the database from my web application, using the Connect to database wizard it is giving only sql express server in the list.

I can't use Visual Studio to create Update and Delete Queries through the Data Source configuration Wizard. Visual Studio 2005.

I can use the wizard to create the Select query. The check boxes for Update and Delete queries are dimmed out and I can't select them. I do have the primary key in my select query and that works fine when I test it. I am also able to manually write a delete query and put it into the data souce object. The manually created query works fine!

This worked fine until last Friday or so. It has not worked today at all. I think something was changed at the hosting service because I have not changed anything.

I am logging into the SQL Server on xxxxxx.com with this connection string:

The 'xxxxx's are to redact sensitive info.

i have my sql database on a network server 2003 PC. i am running a web page on the network where a client has the facility to click a button on the web page to get certain data from the database.i need to know as to how to link button on web page to the sql database.PL suggest some codes/snippets to sort out this problem at the earliest.

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

I am getting this error while running a web service from VS2005 and connecting sql server 2000. I do not want to connect sql server 2005 . I have enabled TCP/IP, NP and have checked allthe ports also. But still I am getting this error. Any idea why?

I have an app which uses a web service to connect to a SQL database. The application reports back an Access Violation message.

This works at some sites, but not at others. I’ve compared every permission, property and setting I can think of between the working sites and the non working ones and all appears to be the same.



My ConnStr is:



<ConnStr>data source=SERVERNAME/DATABASE; initial catalog=USER; user=USERNAME; password=PASSWORD</ConnStr>
