Just a possibility, but maybe your internet provider had limited your bandwidth. Have you been downloading a lot lately? Comcast made a cap on internet traffic.

The Favour :

If you have got the sify’s 64kbps Unlimited plan , which was unlimited until 2 months back until sify suddenly had change of plans , and informed the users that , your pack is not unlimited , and you can download only 150 MB/day!!!!!!

BendBroadband is Giving You More Speed...

...but at the price of bandwidth caps. It appears that starting in July, BendBroadband Internet customers are going to be saddled with bandwidth caps. For most people, not a big deal. But for bandwidth-heavy geeks like me (and I'm sure I'm not the only one), it is, even if I were on the highest plan.

While I'm sure they've always internally had these caps, and I applaud them for actually making them public, they don't seem very generous and they're forcing users into more expensive plans to make sure they have breathing room.

The biggest problem for me is my nightly online backups, not only to my house but from my house. I have software that backs up local data nightly to Mozy servers and I also have a 400GB file server in my home office that backs up data from the servers in my Sunriver office on a nightly basis. I also download large torrent files of DVD disk images, software patches, midget porn etc... . I can all but guarantee that I'd hit the bandwidth cap pretty much every month (probably every couple weeks).

But the reality is that most of my heavy bandwidth usage is in the middle of the night (between 10PM and 7AM, after which the connection to my server in Sunriver severs as the office is opening back up), where it's not going to screw with the bulk majority of folks. So should I be penalized when I'm not going to be affecting 95% of folks?

As it stands right now, their page to check your usage doesn't work, but let's hope that's up long before they roll this thing out.

I know Comcast, a major, national cable provider, has these sorts of caps, but I was hoping a local, home-grown company wouldn't have to resort to this, especially without an option for an unlimited plan (depending on what source you read, Comcast's cap is between 90-200gb, which is quite a bit more than BendBroadband's limit, even on the high end).

While BendBroadband has been a long-time advertiser on this site (my agreement with them allows me to editorialize all I want about their service), and I've constantly recommended their Internet services, I might have to shop around for DSL services unless some clarification can be made for hardcore geeks (and long time customers) like me. It's late, and I'm tired from watching all the basketball today, so maybe this has me more riled up than it should, but in this day and age where bandwidth should be getting cheaper and cheaper (and generally it is), it irks me when my ISP for nearly a decade decides to cap it on me.

1. Network management will be protocol agnostic & disclosed to consumers… and there will be no more connection resets.

2. Network architecture will be optimized for media delivery

a. Comcast is increasing capacity overall and particularly for upstream traffic (good for p2p)

b. Bittorrent is developing new client features to optimize for ISP networks (eg, cache discovery protocol)

c. Comcast/Bittorrent will jointly investigate a new network architecture for the benefit of our users (servers in the comcast network which will accelerate file transfer rather than impede it)

3. Openness: We will publish our findings and optimizations in open forums for the benefit of other ISPs and application developers… including our open source Bittorrent implementation

I have had Sky Broadband for a year now and its been virtually faultless. Then this last two weeks It still syncs at the same speed it used to but the throughput is hideous.

It connects at around 5mbps but in reality I am now getting around 580k. The majority of the time, the upload exceeds the spped of the downloads.

What could be the cause of this becuase according to BT the line is clear?

I have spent over two and a half hours in total with customer solutions people who have been really helpful once you get past the people who just read instructions of of a screen and you have to say done that and that and that!

I have been having the same problem using Azureus. I thought it may be a memory leak but I have 2gig of ram and it never goes above 50%. I tried the memory optomizer from tuneup utilities and it did not help. My computer slows way down and neither the CPU (3.4g) or the ram are over 50% utilized. It gets to the point that there is nothing being sent or received and none of the other computers can access the net.

I have a D-Link 624m and also had a 624 that I had the same issue with. I turned on loggin and do not see any issues there. Swapping routers was the first thing I tried

I also thought it may be a tweak that I might have done because I did not have the problem for a long time and then started having problems a couple of months ago. I rebuilt the computer a couple of week

RE: Download speed got reduced suddenly past 15days?

Is it a hook on comp./laptop?

or wireless?

for hooked you may need to delete some files and defrag you harddrive,

for wireless, disk fragment still and disk cleanup and maybe want to stop using torrents because its like a p2p because people basically using your internet to give you the file you want
