Interview Question :: Urgent help about ASP.NET or WEB DEVELOPMENT


have been debating myself on how & where to start?
I am 49 years old and I need to start where I can get a job
quickly. I check Linux/Unix well they all require 4 to 6 years of experience in order to consider you. Meaning if I learn linux nobody will hire me. I look at SQL Server DBa same thing , even if I get a certifications my chances at 49 without any experience are slim to get into that field. I was thinking about ASP.NET and the Web Development in general. What do you guys will recommend me to at least get my feet into the field?? After that I will learn more but I need to get in. Thanks for your recommendations guys.

I would suggest ASP .NET, PHP, and ColdFusion. I am a certified ColdFusion developer. As much as I hate to admit it, ASP .NET and PHP are more popular than ColdFusion these days. So, you can try ASP .NET and PHP.



Once you have learned enough of these skills, you can go to some freelance web project web site like www.guru.com and try to do some project as a test to your own skill. At the same time, you can also go look for a job. This way, you will have some income by doing freelance jobs while waiting for a permanent job.

Start here.

Start with html

Then JavaScript.

You can do visual basic (VBScript) too but I consider it old hat. It is used though.

The rest is up to you.

I suggest that you start web developing with ASP.NET 2.0. Remember that I mentioned .net 2.0, because Microsoft has made it very very easy for developers to learn and use it in order to design and develop professional web sites. Using this technology, web app development needs less coding and is more fun. Even working with Data has become extremely fine and DEVELOPER-FRIENDLY!! Don't miss the chance.
