Interview Question in Stored Procedures

Interview Question :: What are the best products and procedures for African American hair

I have thick, coarse hair, and it's starting to get fragile because of all i have to do to take care of it! I get it relaxed every 1.5-2 months, i use the kind you can buy at a store, i don't go to a salon, but even after that i still have to blow dry it, and STILL i have to use a flat iron to get it looking somewhat sleek. There has to be an easier way. Any products (shampoo, conditioner, creme, best flat irons, etc.) suggestions?

Also, i dont really know how to wrap my hair...

sighh please help me!

-u shud try dr. miracle relaxing system. i used it today, nd it sounds lik our hair is similar.

-use soft sheen carson oil moisturizer to help soften yur hair (the 'just for me' pink lotion is great).

-pantene relaxed nd natural shampoo/conditioner is great @ restoring oils and keepin hair shiny.

-paul mitchell hair gel is really strong and doesnt get hard/flaky. so does JAM gel.

-CHI irons are the best i've ever used, but they're a bit pricey. conair makes good ones too.

-softsheen carson also has a 60 sec leave in conditioner that is soooooo good and makes hair really soft/shiny/healthy looking. it has pearl extarcts in it.

*yu shud really work on learning to wrap yur hair, because it helps it grow, and yu dont have to starighten it as much when yu wrap it every night.

hope i helped!

Honestly... the best thing I would suggest is that you ask a friend or family member to put you in contact with their stylist. They will be able to give you great tips on maintaining your hair and what products to use. They may even sell products - mine does. They will also be able to show you how to wrap your hair and check for dead ends. You should allow a professional stylist perm and trim your hair every 6 weeks. I know this may not be what you were looking for but this is just me being honest. I actually have budgeted to go to the salon every week... this is not something that everyone can do but at least anytime you are putting chemicals in your hair or cutting it. Take care.

It sounds like you are doing a lot to your hair and it might be becoming damaged. Have you thought about growing out your natural texture? You won't have to deal with the damage of chemicals or heat. If you are thinking about this visit nappturality.com. If you are going to continue to use the chemicals and heat visit longhaircareforum.com. You will get excellent advice on how to care for your hair on these sites. I strongly suggest you giving your hair a break from the chemicals and heat. You can do rollersets or twistouts. Your hair doesn't have to be "sleek" to look beautiful. Good luck with your hair.

Try to stop relaxing your hair so much...maybe you should get a better flat iron...make sure you have a good moisturizer, Olive Oil (in the green bottles) is a great brand...they sell moisturizers, oils, relaxers etc. you can get it from any beauty supply store or walmart and it is really good for our hair!!! Oh and learn to wrap your hair because then you wont have to flat iron it as much...go to BlackHairMedia.com and click on discussion board and get some help there...they really helped me and now my hair is past my shoulders and really healthy...GOOD LUCK!

Yes, here's a answer!! First before relaxing the hair don't itch it, make sure its dirty, put Vaseline on your scale, edges, and then apply relaxer. Olive Oil no lye brand is the best in store now. Keep the relaxer a half inch from scale when applying it ( if not it will irritate the scale and the relaxer will not take). Then when your done with all four sections massage it into scale with rat tail comb (anything with small teeth). Always start on the back top section (middle part of the top of head.) Keep in no more then 15mins then rinse out. Make sure you use a neutralizer shampoo (the shampoo that comes with kit) to seal in the deal. If not it will get coarse fast. Oh and only relax the NEW GROWTH or breakage will start. Good luck!!!

Great products:

Pro-V Relaxed & Natural Shampoo the best keeps the natural oils in hair.

Motions treatmeant conidtioner

Olive Oil products

botanicals hair products just to name a few.

Oh yes and dr. miracle for extreme breakage
